DAY 9 - Psalm 118:24
Key Scripture - Psalm 118:24
This is the Day, the Lord has made. We will rejoice and be Glad in it.
The writer of this Psalm, although unknown, is believed to likely be a man who’s life was in danger and therefore believed his days were to be cut short. When the next day arrives he bursts into song praising God for yet another day. How do you approach each day from it’s beginning? When the alarm goes off are your first thoughts, “oh brother… another day is here. Blah. Blah. Blah”. How you start your day sets the course for the day. In the verse above it says, ‘I WILL rejoice”. Indicating that joy was a choice. This person could have woken up and been negative knowing that he still most likely had a day running for his life from his enemies. Instead he embraced his place of struggle and chose to be glad for the one small, but momentous thing... his eyes opened.
Today you’ve been granted another day. What will you make of it? Will you choose to dwell on the failures and hurts of yesterday or, will you choose to be glad and thankful for another day. I challenge you to find things throughout your day that you can be glad for. Big things and small things. You might be thankful or glad that you caught your bus on time, or that your car started. Keep track of all the things that you are glad for today. I think you might just be surprised at all the things that go right for you.
