DAY 11 - 2 Corinthians 5:21

Key Scripture - 2 Corinthians 5:21 (ESV)

For our sake He made Him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in Him we might become the righteousness of God.

Recently I started developing the habit of verbalizing a few key thoughts before my feet hit the floor each morning, one being, "I am the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus!" Okay, sometimes it sounds more like "I am the righteousness (yawn)… of God.. (yawn)… zzzzzzz… in Christ Jesus… "

There is a life-changing power in this phrase. The magnitude of what this means, packs one of the biggest punches in all of history! Simply put, when God looks at you, He doesn't see the you that you feel. He doesn't see the you that's been struggling with a bad attitude or trying unsuccessfully to overcome the same obstacle for years. He doesn't see the habitual sin that you hate and wish you could get over. He doesn't see the lies, the manipulation, the fear or the shame of your past. He sees none of it!

This is not a license to sin. On the contrary. This is the redemptive, miracle working power of Jesus' death, burial and resurrection actively at work in your redeemed life! With Jesus in your heart, God sees you as spotless, righteous, whole and restored. He sees Jesus in you, righteousness covering you, His Spirit empowering you and giving you everything you need to live a Godly life here on earth.

Today, let's actively pursue a greater revelation of Christ in us and begin a habit of saying out loud "I am the righteousness of God!"
