DAY 13 - Romans 12:2

DAY 13 - Romans 12:2

Key Scripture -Romans 12:2 NLT

Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.

The original word for transform in this verse is the greek word “metamorphoo” (from where we get the word metamorphosis) which means to change, transfigure, and transform. Consider the butterfly, it starts out as a wiggly little caterpillar crawling along the ground, but then it goes through a process of metamorphosis where it is transfigured into a beautiful butterfly. God wants to change our thinking so that it no longer resembles worldly thinking, instead it will be as God has designed. It will bring us into a new awareness of what He has created us for and this will be good, pleasing and perfect. How does this process of transformation take place? It starts with not doing things the way that we’ve always done them, or how the world does them, but instead asking God to show us how He wants us to think. He'll do this through His Word and through spending time in His presence in prayer and worship.
