DAY 18 - Proverbs 17:9

Key Scripture - Proverbs 17:9

Whoever covers an offense seeks love, but he who repeats a matter separates close friends.

Gossip is a casual or unconstrained conversation that reports about other people, typically involving details that are not confirmed as being true. If you have to look around to make sure that no one can hear what you are saying or if you would not say something in front of the person you are talking about, then you’re most likely gossiping. None of us enjoy having our weaknesses, failures and problems repeated, yet sometimes we have trouble showing that same courtesy to others. Churches, friendships, marriages, and many other relationships have been damaged and even destroyed by the repeating of personal affairs. Those who cover a transgression, are those walking in love. Just as God’s love covers all our offenses, so we also ought to cover others in love.
