DAY 23 - Psalm 106:25

Key Scripture - Psalm 106:25

“...they wouldn’t believe his promise to care for them. Instead, they grumbled in their tents and refused to obey the Lord.”

The definition of grumble is to quietly express complaints, to protest about something in a negative way and to bitterly complain without seeking a solution. Sometimes it’s easy for us to dismiss a “normal” sin like complaining because it’s common and (let’s be honest) it comes all too easily. However, a murmuring and grumbling mouth is particularly grieving to God because it reveals discontent we have towards Him and His ability to meet our needs. Jeremiah Burroughs said, “By murmuring you undo your prayers, for it is exceedingly contrary to the prayer that you make to God." Grumbling is the exact opposite of prayer. When we pray we worship, uplift and demonstrate faith. When we grumble we demote, tear down and doubt. The next time you’re tempted to complain about something, turn your words into a faith-filled prayer to the God who cares for you and has the ability to move mountains.
